Bafana Bafana stalemate with Congo

Bafana Bafana hosted Congo-Brazzaville on Wednesday 15 October at Peter Mokaba Stadium for the second round of fixtures in the African Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifiers.

The bad weather did not stop people from coming in their numbers to support the national team. Bafana managed to keep their unbeaten record by drawing, which keeps them on top of group A with eight points followed by Congo with seven points. Coach Ephraim “Shakes” Mashaba made changes and it showed as Bafana played as a well organised team.

Telkom Knockout round of 16 update

The Telkom Knockout is one of South Africa’s favourite local football tournaments. With smaller teams searching for glory as well, it comes as no surprise that the unpredictability of t he tournament has become one of the talking points as smaller clubs give their all for the tournament.

Defending champions Platinum Stars scraped through their matches, as did Orlando Pirates, SuperSport United, Mamelodi Sundowns (against AmaTuks) and Kaizer Chiefs as the teams faced difficult tests against willing opposition.
